Fraction Frenzy

Adding and Subtracting Fractions

This is everything you will need to know about Adding and Subtracting Fractions!

Step One:

Study the PowerPoint!

Step Two:

Review the Fraction Chart
(this might be something you would like to print out and keep)


Activities:
Activity One:
Jelly Bean Counters!


1.Select a handful of multicolor jelly beans. 
2. Count the total Number of Jelly Beans.
     * This Number will be the denominator.
3. Now didvide your jelly beans into color groups.
4. Create fractions out of each group.
5. Create a Bar Graph, Line Graph and Pie Chart with your data through Word or Excel.
Which Graph do you feel is best for this type of data?


Activity Two:

Picture Perfect Fractions!

1. Take a Picture of your Class.
2. With a group member study the photo and discuss the photo. 
3.. Make a list of the similarities and differences among all the classmates in the photo.
4. With this data create fractions for each group discussed.
